Snow Day!!
It was a delightful day that started out with Bonnie bursting into my room this morning at 7:30am to ask me if I wanted to be her model for a few outdoor snapshots in the snow. After fully waking up from the dream that had me in a bar fight with various expensive-looking assholes, I figured it would be lovely to play in the snow and take a few pictures before getting coffee and donuts at Top Pot. (After all, everything I had to do today was canceled!) Well, a few pictures turned into 120 (you know me and my "picture-taking reflex"), so here are some highlights of the morning:
This is the ball diamond of an elementary school that's just down the road from my apartment. The snowfall and peacefulness of the morning was a stark contrast to the graffiti on the entrance sign. Plus, the sun was just rising which makes the picture all that much more beautiful.
The moon was still out and Bonnie got a good picture of it. Along with it, you can get an idea of how much snow actually fell.
As her model, Bonnie told me to wear something that would contrast with the snow, so I threw on a few of the many bright colored pieces that make up my wardrobe! And those shoes were saviors considering I put my entire right foot in a pool of water because I thought the ice that was covering it would be frozen all the way through! Dweeb move!
This is an example of what Bonnie looked like right after I came out of my dream-induced coma this morning. When I emerged from my bedroom after being awoken, she kept jumping up and down like a little rabbit...but she has good reason - Alex is coming home from China today! She's been ridiculously giddy all week and this picture captures that excitement perfectly! :)
Just some pretty, snowy trees with the morning sun shining on them. We were lucky to get some great pictures before the sun melted all the snow!
That's right, we walked to the park and played on the equipment! It was so fun! It's almost impossible to get a swing or a slide in the summer when the kids flock here like bees to honey, so we had ourselves a jolly good time!
...and we decided it was time to walk to Top Pot for some hot food and drink. Thank goodness for a decaf raspberry mocha and an old-fashioned raspberry donut. It's the simple things. THEN, we found hearts in the parking lot! Valentine's Day IS soon approaching! (Though Adrian and I have made plans to go out for dinner in lieu of sitting at home during my least favorite holiday of the year.)
