Hey y'all...things are going great down here in sunny Arizona! So, the Gavin concert was A-MAZ-ING. He was so fantastic that I want to marry him, but I don't think he'd be a good fit (too much traveling when on tour - plus, if I marry him, I won't be able to name my first child after him). Seriously, though, his music makes me want to smile all the time...remember what I said about "Chariot?" Anytime I am in a bad mood or feeling like shit, I just need to put on this song and rock out...it cheers me right up.
So, I flew in at about 11am on Thursday morning and Tyler (avec friend, Laura) came to pick me up. This dude on the plane was seriously chatting me up hardcore. After discussing good books at the end of the flight, when we landed, he was like, "So, write down your contact info and I'll send you a list of great books." Yeah. He tried to woo me with the fact that he played for the UW football team (probably in, like, 1980 - he was kinda older), but he never graduated! So funny. Imagine trying to impress a girl (who's in grad school nonetheless) and telling her "Yeah, I played fb for the Huskies, but I dropped out a year early." Oh, and to top it all off, his name was Keth. Not Keith, KETH. You get my point.
After being picked up, we went back to T's dorm room (I met the roomies who are now all in love with me) to drop my stuff off and go to class. I went to English and Psych with him. It was fun cause I didn't have to do anything (except the ten crossword puzzles I had already collected since being there). Then, we got ready for Gavin and Laura (the sweetest girl in the world) picked us up to go to the fair (the AZ State Fair where he was playing). Upon arriving, we saw some elephants, ate an expensive walleye sandwich (at least, I ate one), and made our way to the venue. T and I had purchased tickets, so we went to our seats, which were pretty damn good.
AND THEN THE CONCERT. It was incredible. The audience was relatively small and not totally into it at the beginning, so he came out and sang IN THE CROWD. Security tried to follow him, but he just pushed them away and walked all around the seating level. After that, interest piqued and the concert was so friggin good. He played an awesome new song presumably called "We Belong Together" - I think it's his next radio hit. And, even though it's not one of my favorite songs, "I Don't Wanna Be" was excellent. There was another that we liked called "Sometimes You Gotta Get Drunk to Fall in Love" - it was funny. He left the stage before playing "Chariot" and I almost cried. But it was an encore, and they all came back out and rocked the song. It was so spectacular. After, Tyler and I bought tshirts and got this wristband to go meet him. We stood in line for over an hour. Finally, Gavin signed my shirt, I shoke his hand, told him how much I appreciate his music, and slipped him my number, telling him that he should give me a call if he ever wants a beer. (Ha, I know, so lame. But Laura did it and told me to do it, too.) He told us where he was gonna be after the show (at a few bars on Mill right next to ASU), but everyone I was with was under 21. Bummer. It was fine, we took pictures in a one of those fair photo booths and then got some McDonald's ice cream because it was cheaper than at the fair. I would have been too tired to make out with Gavin anyways. :)
You know what, though? I get so annoyed with people because a lot of girls just like how he looks and they don't appreciate his music. Plus, they have all jumped on the bandwagon and now everyone's a Gavin fan. I have to bite my tongue a little bit, though, because the more popular he gets, the more albums he makes and the happier I am...it just gets frustrating when people are like, "Oh, I'm a Gavin fan, too!" I totally knew about him when Felicity was still on the WB. That was in, like 1999. Do the math. So there. Possessive, but true.
Here's some pics from Thursday night:
Me and Tyler in front of the elephants. Except for, you can't actually SEE the elephants. Ha. We were so stoked to see Gavin at this point. Awwww, I love my brother. It's really interesting and kinda funny because people always think we're dating. Oh well. Two good looking people. Whatcha gonna do? (RAYA, practically my favorite song!)
Here's Gavin right before I got his autograph on my shirt. It's funny, because when he sings, you can't tell he has a really strong Southern drawl. Still, he's really cute and super funny on stage. I just love watching him because not only does he have a spectacular voice, but you can plainly see he is completely passionate about his music. It's ridiculous. He also does this thing with his mouth that is adorable to see. I know what you're thinking...I am seriously in love with him from afar. It's true.OH, speaking of being in love with people from afar, I TALKED to my super crush on Wednesday after class. I just can't sit idly when it comes to this kind of thing, I get so impatient. So, here's the story. First of all, I looked amazing. (Well, duh.) I sat down and he sat in front of me, but not at the same table. Seriously (I am NOT exaggerating here), I kept catching him casually staring at me. Ugh! Not that this is bad, but everytime I caught his eye to smile, he quickly looked away. I was telling my mom the other day that I still have a complex about this staring business from a traumatic incident that happened in 7th grade with a boy I liked at the time. I am scarred from it. Anyways, at the end of class, I noticed that his shirt read: Listen to Britney Spears. It was so interesting that I had to ask him about it. He told me that he had made the shirt and asked if I wanted one! SCORE. I told him YES (!) and he said to bring him a shirt along with $1 next class, and he'll make one for me. Basically, foundation set. Now, he just needs to ask me out before I explode, which is likely considering I suck at waiting. As for other boys, Facebook hasn't really given me the makeout sessions promised. Craigs List is okay, I really like this dude, Jon...well, I suppose as much as you can like someone without ever meeting them. Ha. Oh, and there is this really cute guy I keep seeing in my neighborhood. Don't know his name, but he hangs out at Top Pot (a local and wonderful "doughnut" joint) and wears his hat backwards. So cute. I plan on asking his name the next time I see him. (Raya, thanks for the advice on this...I am prolly gonna to consult you about it when I get back. How about at Pizza Luce?)
So, yesterday was a waste of a day, except for the fact that Ty and I went to My Big Fat Greek Restaurant. It is my favorite restaurant down here. It's to-die-for Greek food. The best gyros I have ever had. And relatively cheap. Then, we went to Urban Outfitters and Borders where I bought a few CD's. We sat there for awhile and drank tea. It was so relaxing and nice to have a little quiet time with my bro. I miss him so much in Seattle! Oh, and PS - everyone thinks he's OLDER than me! Can you believe that? Seriously. Just because he has a little chin scruff doesn't justify him being "a few years" older than me. Geez. We got that about 4 times since I've been here.
This morning, we bought my laptop and a suit for Tyler. I am bit unhappy about my computer because it's kinda big. I wanted something smaller and more compact, but this was the best for longevity and the most reasonably priced. Plus, since it's my only computer (after I sell my desktop...anyone want a great HP computer for around $500?), I got one with a larger screen which makes it bigger all around. Huh.
Tonight, we're gonna do a little dinner and go out with Laura for awhile. Tyler is sleeping right now, so I'm gonna go outside and read some homework. Yippee.
Before I go, I'll answer a few questions...
So Raya, Aaron is kind of your typical ski bum. He's about 5'10" with short brown hair that he keeps covered 24/7 with a beanie. He has a medium build with brown eyes and one of the best smiles I have ever seen. SO cute. He's really intelligent and funny in class. I haven't yet figured out his age, but soon. Soon.
Bonnie is my roommate from Soldotna and she is friggin awesome! I really enjoy her company; we get along really well.
The rapper dude (Rob) seems cool...he just emailed me and wants to meet up sometime. Though he did mention that he knows these Craigs List things don't ever seem to work out, which I think is cool. He sounds legit, but I'll let you know. Jon(non-profit dude) is still in the Craigs List lead.
As for Halloween, I am not doing anything...I have 3 essay midterms due the next week, so I will be in hibernation. I think you should be...1) a man in a tux, 2) a Puma freak, 3) a Husky - REPRESENT, 4) - and my favorite - Oscar the Grouch. Let me know what you decide!
Hope all is well with everyone!
Love and miss...
