I am desperately trying to access this specific database to research for my papers, but I am not able to connect to the network. ARGGGHH. I am getting annoyed.
Anyways...Happy Thanksgiving! Oh, and congratulations to Cassie for having a child! Wow, can't believe we have another person in the family. Gee whiz. Ha. I'm so old school, it's sick.
I am having a great holiday so far. Wednesday night, I went to RENT (the movie) and I really enjoyed it. I was skeptical at first, but found myself liking it right away. This is definitely a buyer. You should see it; it's pretty wonderful (but, of course, not as good as the stage production)! And Mimi really spoke to me when she was singing "Another Day" when she said, "You must let go to know what's right." That seemed to strike a chord with me and the situation I find myself in right now.
Then, I went out with Zack and a few of his friends (Ben, Amy, Justin, and Cassie) to a club downtown named Trinity. It was fun, but for part of the night, I was in a total funk for no particular reason. I just wasn't feeling it, but I tried to have a good time despite my weirdness and, eventually, I got outta my phase. I had TOTAL foot-in-mouth syndrome on Wednesday, too, because I am an idiot. So, Ben's friend Amy lives in NYC, but is from Seattle and was in town for the holiday. I noticed that she had an engagement ring on her finger, but the ring was so big, I thought it had to be fake. So while we were driving downtown, she mentioned getting married next summer and I blurted out, "Oh, so the ring IS real, then." Yeah, I suck. She was like, "Uh...yeah." And I said, "Oh, cause, uh, you know how, uh, women wear fake rings, uh, to, uh, you know, act like their engaged when they, uh, go out. You know." Idiot. She went along with it and I further apologized later, but I felt so DUMB. Then, after we returned from the club, we were at Ben's house just hanging out and I had to poop, so I retired to the bathroom for a bit. I finished my business and went to flush only to realize that Ben has a shitty (no pun intended) toilet that you have to flush about a million times just to get pee to go down. So, I am sitting there flushing and flushing, waiting for my turd to go down and getting really annoyed. Finally, just as Zack was coming to look for me, I yell, "Ben, I pooped in your toilet and it won't flush!" Zack laughs and asks me if I want him to try to flush it cause there's "a trick." Uh, no, I didn't want him to see my poop, but eventually, I got it down. Phew. What a night.
Yesterday, Zack and I went to Colleen's house for Thanksgiving and had a great time hanging out and playing football and eating. It was really fun and Zack ended up having a good time despite the fact that he really doesn't love Thanksgiving (he's a picky eater and he didn't want to make others feel bad that he wasn't eating their food) and he didn't want to go to Colleen's because he didn't want to intrude on "family time." He's so sweet. We played some street football and I showed them all my mad fb skills. I rock. All that time being a rockstar athlete in France really helps a girl out, I tell ya. Then, last night, we just chilled together. I really enjoy his company. I swear he gets better every day.
Now, I'm at Top Pot trying to research, but not being able to access the damn database. Grr. Tomorrow, I gotta buckle down and get some work done. Then I can play! :)
I realized that I have this fantasy of being in an action movie. I think it would be fun to be part of a team of specialists fighting their way against evil. Wouldn't that be cool? Gee, so many things to do and so little time.
Peace in the middle east (Dad, it's a joke),
Colonel (as I am known to Captain)
